Skene Medical Centre

Skene Medical Centre is located in Westhill, Aberdeenshire. The facility gathers under one roof a doctors’ surgery; dentistry; social work; podiatry; physiotherapy; and other facilities. The G.P consulting rooms are located in two wings on the ground floor. Adjacent to this is the treatment wing with minor procedures room and an NHS dental practice with two surgeries. On the first floor is a second open plan waiting area, accessed by feature staircase, for physiotherapy, podiatry, & speech & language therapy. Aberdeenshire Council Social Work Services have a large office on this level, grouped with offices for other healthcare centre staff.

The public spaces in the building are arranged to provide an interior which is spacious, and where appropriate, open plan. Natural light floods the interior both directly through generously proportioned windows and indirectly through borrowed light from screens and glass block walls. Bespoke, artist designed, signage, and the interior design scheme create an environment which is individual and not institutional.
