Carden Medical Centre

The site presented a design challenge, being on a substantial slope, and requiring a sensitive approach to extending the existing Carden House, all within a city centre Conservation Area.

The design process developed a plan on a series of levels, to take advantage of the site, and allowed the public and staff accommodation to be defined on floor levels, with separate consulting and treatment levels, each having its own waiting areas and support rooms.

Externally, the use of traditional materials was combined with modern finishes and features to create a contemporary, yet complimentary extension to the existing granite house.

This level of detail and design, combined with the retention of existing trees and the introduction of new landscaping, has allowed the Practice to quickly establish its new healthcare services.
