Foresterhill Health Centre

Aberdeen

The project will provide a new Health Centre within the existing Foresterhill Hospital campus incorporating a Health Centre to accommodate 2 existing Medical Practices, Community services such as Podiatry, Speech and Langue & Community Nursing Teams along with Office accommodation and a Community Pharmacy.

Central to the design is creating an environment which is friendly, welcoming, and effortless to use – a place that makes good use natural daylight, giving a feeling of being airy and bright.

The building is organised over 3 floors and arranged to take advantage of the sloping site. Key consulting accommodation has been configured to ensure all consulting rooms have a window and help bring natural daylight deep into the building to support the ventilation strategy, whilst also aiding orientation and wayfinding.

Shared support accommodation for all building users (staff room, changing areas, etc.) are provided on the lower ground floor.

The ground floor layout provides for the separate Westburn and Elmbank GP consulting accommodation in separate wings accessed from a central arrival/waiting space. All the GP consulting and treatment accommodation is provided at ground floor level, with supporting interview rooms.

The first floor accommodation groups together the of CHP consulting (Podiatry, Speech and Language, and Midwife) and the Community Nursing Teams.

The design strives to achieve a modern building which is respectful of its setting. The use of smooth white render and grey facing block and Granite is in keeping with recently completed buildings on the Campus. These will age well and maintain the overall contextual setting of the site.
