Emergency Care Centre

Foresterhill Hospital, Aberdeen

Opened in September 2012, the Emergency Care Centre, procured through the NHS Framework, is strategically placed at the ’hub’ of the hospital and offers 8 floors of clinical accommodation (10 storeys in total); incorporating Accident & Emergency, Fracture Clinic, Imaging, Clinical Decision Unit, Operations Centre, Pharmacy, Medical & Surgical Short Stay Ward, HDU, Cancer Care, Infectious Diseases Unit, and General Ward areas dealing with Respiratory, Cardiology, Renal, and DREEMS patients, supported by office, seminar, tele-medicine, and NHS24 services.

Externally, the Emergency Care Centre combines contemporary building materials with smooth white render, dark grey glazing units curtain walling, and composite cladding panels in white, grey, and silver giving an opportunity to break up the massing of the elevations

Its location directly adjacent to the previous A&E facility, required detailed phasing of construction and service delivery to ensure that the well being of patients, staff and contractors was ensured.
