Pentland Land Rover, Newbridge, Edinburgh

Newbridge, Edinburgh

Having secured the Land Rover franchise for the whole of Edinburgh City and surroundings, our client committed to relocating the business from their existing premises in Edinburgh to an all new, world-class, purpose-built facility. The facility comprises a flagship showroom to display up to 14 new vehicles, two private handover bays, and a vehicle service workshop containing 12 vehicle ramps with MOT facility, along with associated staff accommodation and external vehicle display. A complex arrangement of spaces and levels created a dynamic internal layout and helped achieve the necessary brand separation, while the curved showroom created a striking form and a focal point when viewed from the M9, and helps create the public face required by both the client and Land Rover.

A contemporary palette of high quality materials was used throughout. White render was used to creates a simple frame around the extensive facetted grey aluminium framed curtain walling and vertical strip windows of the showroom, while the workshop features silver Kingspan horizontal cladding, punctured by horizontal dark grey aluminium framed strip windows and sliver aluminium doors. The west elevation of the workshop features a further white render element and projecting canopy to soften the impact of the workshop and helps to create a welcoming view when approaching the site entrance.
