Nissan & Mini Showrooms

Balmoral Park, Wellington Road, Aberdeen

This development comprises two new main dealer car showrooms with workshop facilities.

The design aims to provide high quality retail space for the purpose of promoting the relevant brands with maximum visibility to passing traffic. Both showrooms are orientated with the main glazed elevations facing across Wellington Road and entrances facing south to the point of arrival.

Nissan was designed as a simple but elegant silver and glass box that displays the necessary branding features to maximum advantage. The form of the windows and glazing reflecting the upside ‘L’ shape of the brand feature. A vertical fin delineates the break between workshop and showroom externally and serves to mark the end of the run of vertical window openings on the showroom.

MRT managed the concept architects put forward by BMW who came up with the initial designs for the MINI showroom. MRT utilised these designs throughout the planning and building warrant process, adapting them as necessary to suit client requirements.

Both showrooms incorporate a number of sustainable design features, including under floor heating and roof mounted photo voltaic panels.

Both showrooms display the latest main dealer brand concepts and fittings internally making use of ipad working methodology at Nissan and the integration of Sales information with LED Television displays built into furniture and units. At Mini there is a specialised handover experience incorporating an automated sliding door, special lighting and sound together with a promotional video.
