This high quality building was completed in 2007 and provides 122 student bedrooms, with shared kitchen/living areas in groups of 3, 4 and 5 bedded flats.
It is located on the corner of Ward Road and North Lindsay Street, an urban site in Dundee city centre. The character of the area is mixed use, with offices, flats, and government buildings nearby. The site itself was a gap site, used as a temporary car park.
The completed building redefines the street frontage to North Lindsay Street and Ward Road by locating the development along the North and East perimeters of the site. The massing of the building respects the hierarchies of these two streets. The six and seven storey blocks along Ward Road, with the five storey block facing North Lindsay Street.
This development responds to its urban context and the substantial scale of the surrounding buildings to produce an imaginative high-density solution to the requirement for affordable student accommodation in Dundee city centre.
